Spring 1997 - Cincinnati to Yukon
Journals - 7 April 1997
Day 7 - Duff's, Adams County, OH
7 April 1997 (very cool at night and morn; cool and sunny in day; gusty
winds; mileage = 0) -- X - I didn't sleep well until nearly morning, so we
both slept in kind of late (~10:00) by new time (9:00 old time). It was
nice and cold, so I built a fire and we (worked on eating stuff that's been
unpopular) ate breakfast. The winds are lighter today, but totally
unpredictable gusts pop up a lot. April is painting her nails. I was
looking through the atlas that Dennis brought for me. We're sitting by the
fire watching the bean soup we put on cook and staying warm. Our
thermometer says about 53 degrees in shade, 63 degrees in sun. It seems
much cooler. We ate our soup, which was pretty good. Close to sunset, we
put a bunch of stuff in the tent and got in there hoping it would be a
warmer (less windy) place to organize. The first thing we did was cut up
the atlas and get ride of eastern Ohio. Who'd want to go there anyway? We
then tried some combinations of pannier packing before it got too dark.
