Spring 1997 - Cincinnati to Yukon
Journals - 3 April 1997
Day 3 - Rocky Fork Lake, OH
3 April 1997 (beautiful, clear, sunny day; mileage = 47) -- X - Got up
medium early ~ 8:00. Packed up and loaded up and pushed our way out of the
woods and onto the trail by 10:20. Rode the trail to Morrow and ate some
breakfast snacks under the shelter there. Got off the trail and onto 22 for
a short climb. Turned off on 123; took that to Blanchester where we rested
at the picnic area. Then took 28 for 11 straight and flat miles to 124,
which we took to Hillsboro. Very excellent tail winds all day (I cringe at
the thought of westward travel). Traffic wasn't bad, but it wasn't good
either. A lot of dump trucks, concrete trucks, etc. Stopped in "Great Scot"
grocery store in Hillsboro. Didn't like the crowd there too much, so we
took our food and made a run for Rocky Fork. April's chain came off and
about tied itself in a knot. Took care of that and made it to Rocky Fork
S.P. Campgrounds. We ate lunch meat and rolls and strawberries and other
stuff at a picnic table on the lake. Nothing was working at the campground,
no toilets, H2O, showers -- nothing. We set up the Exped 25 tent and tried
to get clean as best as possible with limited H2O.
