Spring 1997 - Cincinnati to Yukon

Day 1 - Near Milford, OH
1 April 1997 (beautiful clear, sunny day; mileage = 18.5) -- A - Spent
the morning and early afternoon packing everything -- stuff to take and
stuff to store. Final decisions! Although we could have Dennis and Nancy
bring things to us this weekend. Chris had to play on the computer one last
time to backup his HP48. We took a nice LONG shower, did a load of laundry
and started loading the bikes. OH MY! What a lot of stuff! I think we left
around 2:30. Those bikes sure felt different loaded, it's pretty amazing.
We took Miami to Graves to Indian Hill Drive to Wooster. We didn't really
have a plan yet as to how far or where to go. Chris hit a hole (crater?) on
Wooster and his water bottle and right rear pannier (with fuel bottle!)
jumped off his bike and rolled around in the street. But no flat! Just up
that street was a dirt trail that led to the bike trail. We took it and
rode 13 or so miles on the bike trail. We pulled off and camped down by the
river. It's very nice! It was perfect weather. Started out cold (31
degrees), got warm (60 degrees), and then started getting cold again. X -
Went to bed when it got dark ~ 19:30. Ate at around sundown ~ 18:30. Had
chili/soup/baked beans.
