Day 47
16 March 1998 (N. Vernon, Indiana, County Campground; mileage = 47.5) -- A
- We left our neat campsite, and the rest of the day was mostly same shit,
different day. Several sets of dogs chased us. The shoulder was crappy, and
there were way too many cars and even more trucks. The wind was in our
faces. We stopped in Brownstown at Dairy Queen for lunch. We checked out a
field area for camping a few miles prior to N. Vernon and 2 vehicles chose
then to turn around. Weird. We were really feeling beat, due to all the
trucks and especially the wide loads that wanted to behead us. Actually, a
garbage truck almost beroaded Chris earlier. We went on into N. Vernon, and
there was a Chamber of Commerce, where we finally got a map and then we saw
a sign for a county park with camping. $8 for a 1/4-mile hike to the
bathroom. Hopefully, we'll be HOME!! tomorrow night. X - Low H2O pressure;
cool H2O; no showers! (*Picture-Hoosier hospitality)
