Winter 1998 - San Diego to Cincinnati
Journals - 28 February 1998
Day 31
28 February 1998 (Greensburg/Pleasant View motel; mileage = 46.4) -- X - I
felt very yucky last night and went to the bathroom at 3:00 to spend way
too much time there. In the morning, I slept in a bit, but I finally got up
and we had a very careful (tedious) take down, because of the lake, which
was downwind of another gale hurricane. We finally made it out to our
highway (400) after a brutal northward mile. I was dead tired, so our
progress wasn't super awesome, despite our fine tail wind. We had nice,
wide shoulders today, too, which helps. We got to Ford and had lunch there.
I was trying to be careful how much and what I ate, since I felt so crappy.
They didn't have « of the items on the menu. After a short bit of perfect
tail wind, we turned and had cross winds to Mullinville, where a pop
sculptor made metal cartoon sculptures out of old farm equipment.
Unfortunately, they had a Rush Limbaugh theme. After a few more tough miles
of nasty cross winds, we got to this motel, which was only 2 times as much
as the corresponding RV site. Hmm. April has gone to the store to get
snacks. I took a shower and am resting. We both have developed (recently) a
weird chaffing/rash where our butts meet our legs. Ouch!
