Winter 1998 - San Diego to Cincinnati

Day 30
27 February 1998 (Dodge City/Watersports Campground; mileage = 74.7) -- A
- Again, we did not get up with the alarm. The wind was already pretty
strong, but at least going the right way. We got to Garden City without
too much trouble and had a satisfying breakfast at McD's. Then we cruised
to Cimarron, where Chris was able to extract money (and win a free Coke)
from an ATM after a failed attempt earlier in the day. Then, we allowed the
wind to blow us into Dodge City, where we hit the visitor center for
campground info. We had a quite bountiful and tasty dinner at the
all-you-can-eat buffet of Golden Corral. Chris' stomach is still causing
problems for him, but he managed to drag himself off to the shower and I
hope he comes back with a report that it's super warm in the building,
because this freak velocity wind makes me just want to hide in my sleeping
bag! Maybe I could even get some of the resident geese of this lake to come
lay on and around me (without shitting). X - It was super cold this morning
(~24 degrees) with such a massive wind. It's quite nasty. My computer was
acting funny in the cold when I tried to reset it (odometer 1,344 + 60.4)
for Central Time Zone. So my odometer starts again today. My wheel # 0 =
193.
