Winter 1998 - San Diego to Cincinnati
Journals - 06 February 1998
Day 9
06 February 1998 (Route 95 near I-40 desert; mileage = 47.6) -- A - We had
a nice, civilized breakfast and a soggy (no rain) tent to dry before
leaving our $12 site. We had a nice tail wind all day -- we climbed gently
for about 15 miles and then dropped like a bomb for 6-8 miles into Lake
Havasu (?) City. It was a really big town full of old people. Lots of
houses even. We rode across the London Bridge TWICE! It was quite
exhilarating. We ate lunch at a public beach and then went a couple blocks
to the Safeway. We escaped that town and it wasn't too long before we were
climbing again. Not very steep, but pretty long. The views are nice,
though. It looks just like Arizona is supposed to look. We neared I-40 and
we found a nice spot off the road a bit. It rained a little. It seems like
we can see snow on some not-so-distant mountains. Oh yeah -- we entered a
different time zone at the Arizona border.
