Winter 1998 - San Diego to Cincinnati

Day 8
25 February 1998 (Buckskin State Park, Arizona; mileage = 31.3) -- X -
Everything was kind of damp this morning, which might have explained the
EXTREME sliminess we felt. We set things out to dry. We had a problem with
the pole inserts which was kind of annoying. We finally got going, and the
shoulder was great -- for a while -- then it disappeared and it was very
tense riding again -- RVs and semis. When we got to Parker, Arizona, we
stopped at a COC and apparently, the helper was very helpful. We rode north
on a freeway-like road with a good shoulder to this nice state park. We
both took great showers. Then April took the laundry on the BOB while I set
up the camp. When she returned, we had Knorr and garlic and quesadillas. We
talked to a guy -- Steve Alexander -- who wanted to try bikes because he
didn't like his (rented) RV experience. He had done some ocean sailing and
liked more adventure.
