17 September 1997 (sunny, then cloudy; some raindrops! mileage = 1.8 [very
few!]; Healdsburg) -- X - I got up not too late. I got laundry going, then
I went to the drugstore to drop off the film. No sale today, but I did
look. Then I went to the P.O. for stamps. Then to the grocery for some
breakfast -- cereal. Back at the house, I ate and read my new German
grammar book. I realized that it was kind of weak in the pedagogy
department. I then went to the library and got some info on Finland for
Alex. Back home again, I wrote letters for a long time. I called my Dad and
voice mail. I then went back to the grocery store. Then I called April. As
I was starting my dinner, Robert came home. I fixed fried potatoes for us
both and he fixed salad for us both. I then had pint of Ben & Jerry's and
was set for fuel. Heidi came home and we chatted (debated) for a while.
She's both fun and irritating to argue with. Then I went through the stash
of GOOD German instruction books that was hiding under a bunch of health
books. Heidi finally remembered them. Oh thanks! Better late than never.
One of them (maybe two) looks perfect -- college or H.S. texts. It's kind
of warm lying here in the bodybag. I need some winter.
