Winter 1998 - San Diego to Cincinnati

Day 17
14 February 1998 (Kaibab national forest between Grand Canyon and Cameron;
mileage = 32) -- A - We had a quick take down, relative to what we've been
doing. Said bye to the Brits and went to the deli for coffee and snacks, to
warm up before heading out. Finished that at 9 AM and hit the P.O. box and
the ATM, and then Chris had a flat! Fixed that, went to the restrooms at
the visitor center and escaped! We stopped at a couple of scenic spots, got
a couple more pictures and then stopped for a snack. Chris knocked off his
newly-attached mirror with his head! Left there and 3 miles later, left the
Grand Canyon fee area. 3 more miles, and we were in the national forest
DESCENDING. It had started snowing and the wind was blowing nastily (read
NOT tail wind). We saw a handy road (thought quite mucky) and found a nifty
spot under some trees. We ate roast beef and rice and it was yummy. Now,
Chris is reading and I looked at maps a while. I opened one of the hand
warmers to test it. So far, so good. Now, I have a headache and want to
rest.
