7 October 1997 (nice; mileage = 21.2; Mountain View) -- X - I got up at
around 8:00. I had toast for breakfast and waited for everyone to take off.
Peter was watching amazingly stupid TV. They took longer than I thought to
leave. Once they finally did take off, I looked over my maps. I decided to
go on an outing. I went to REI and bought a nice map case and micro tripod
for a gift to Seth. Then I went to the bike shop and watched a Tour stage
(awesome -- tears in my eyes, etc.). While I waited to get H2O cage bolts
that will work, I bought a "tandem" magazine, since 1 guy was nice to me.
Next, I rode to the bead shop where I searched a huge selection for the
optimum gift for April and me. Next I went to the Mexican place around the
corner from Seth. They seem nice there (and they're Mexican), but the food
isn't that great. Back at Seth's, I started going over the maps in great
detail. I realized that I was missing an important bit from the north book
-- I rode to the Los Altos library and found it and made good copies. On
the way home, I hit Baskins & Robbins. Yea! Back at Seth's again, they were
already home and had ordered pizza. I had some with them for dinner. Peter
got to bed relatively early (~10:30) and Seth and I (and Yusong for a
while) chatted. It's 1:30 now. Yikes!
