3 October 1997 (very nice; sunny; 72 degree F; mileage = 47.1; Seth's [Mountain View]) -- X - I got up not too early today. I went with Alex to Cala grocery store (with the salad bar). They had Brown Cow yogurt and lots of Knorr, including the pasta packs! After the grocery store, we went to Walgreens to drop off his prescription. That involved waiting around, etc. We finally got back to the apartment and I had the yogurt for breakfast. I finished packing up and said good-bye to Alex. On the south side of G.G. Park, I found a huge mountain right away and somehow found myself at the top. I couldn't have found it any better if I had planned it. I was a bit unnerved by feeling queasy at the top. It was hot, but it wasn't THAT tough. It was maybe a 2-minute climb of medium steepness. I felt better pretty soon and continued. My brakes suck!! I blundered through the city until I found one of my key roads. Then I started making progress. The riding was very chaotic and choppy with more lights than the entire Alcan. I stopped in a bike shop and was told that there are no more bomber cages (bummer). I passed the airport and a big drive-in movie and a horse race track. I finally hit Seth's street and finally found his place. They weren't home, so I went to the park and had pb&j for lunch. I then went for a ride around Mountain View. I found a nicer park with a shaded picnic table where I studied German for quite a while. I came back to Seth's and waited for him. They arrived and we all walked to a Mexican place around the corner. Not bad. (great for Cinci) We then came back and gave Peter a lot of attention. They all went to bed and I shaved and got ready. Seth came down and we got to have a continuous-style conversation which was nice, but now it's late. 1:04 AM!
