Summer 1997 - Yukon to California
Journals - 28 August 1997
Day 49
28 August 1997 (mileage = 4.4; Healdsburg) -- A - We took another roll of
film to be developed this morning. Then to the bike shop where Chris bought
a cassette for $15. It seemed to make him very happy (it did the job and he
went back later and got one for my bike also). Then to the library to copy
a few pages from the atlas so we don't have to carry the book with us. By
that time, our pictures were ready and we took them home. We had brat and
hot dog lunch food and Chris then documented the new pictures. I went
through our stuff and pulled out a bunch of stuff to have sent back after
the Dennis and Nancy show. They will definitely have more stuff than us!
Chris was playing (fixing) with the bikes and talking to Robert while I was
organizing. We went to the grocery and forgot to take any method of paying
which Chris luckily realized before we had our stuff on the counter. We
came back and had dinner and are doing the final pre-packing and planning
of route now. There seems to be a sort of high stress level going on here
now, so it's probably good that we're evacuating tomorrow. Chris will be
back in a couple weeks and hopefully things will be happier then. It's sad
to see cool people be stressed. It seems wasteful. Chris hit 6,000 miles on
one of his little jaunts today! Not much further until 10,000 km!
