Day 44 - Crystal Falls, MI
14 May 1997 (rain; mileage = 0) -- A - It started raining early in the
night and continued with amazing consistency. It is now noon and no sign of
letting up. I'd rather be riding in this and taking off a nice day, but my
legs want a break. I think Chris' leg was complaining pretty loudly last
night also. So here we are, another rainy, cold (38 degrees) day in the
U.P. X - Yup, it's still raining and very cold. This tent is great. We're
both sitting in the chairs doing some power lounging. I just finished
reading the Yogi book and A is writing letters. We're wearing shorts, not
because we're warm, but to save stinkiness of our tights for riding. It is
quite cold in here, but it's amazing how one can adjust. If I had turned
the thermostat down to 45 degrees at the house, we both probably would have
died. Now it would be a luxury to be in that house at 45 degrees with
plenty of clean clothes and hot water. I have been consciously trying to
turn energy formerly spent on getting more, into appreciating even less. My
knee (I forgot which already) was tired last night, but seems fine today.
Hopefully, tomorrow will be as windless as today.
