Bonus Trip

After spending some time in Switzerland with the Salzmann family, they invited us to accompany them on a bike tour of the Czech Republic. After spectating at the Tour De France, I took a train to Passau, Germany where I met up with Valeria, Beat, Margrit, and Melanie who had been riding in Austria for a few days.

We then rode up into the Czech Republic and had an excellent time. This country is so beautiful. I really enjoyed the landscape which provided fabulous riding and camping. It was great to find good swimming lakes all over the country. Valeria even learned to swim.

As we got near Prague, Melanie was ready to return to Switzerland. She and her parents went ahead by train while Valeria and I rode. Later we met up with Beat and Margrit in Prague. We rode together for a few more days before they left for Switzerland and we were on our own again. We then circled back around to Prague to catch a bus back to Switzerland.

I had a terrible time with my bike's rack on this ride. The two seat stay mounts both broke off leaving rather nasty holes in the frame.
