This photo is looking back on the climb up to the hot dog stand. Why was there a hot dog stand? I don't know exactly, but there was some kind of monument here to soldiers of WW2. I don't remember exactly who they were honoring, but it might have been New Zealanders - it was English speakers anyway. Strange. Behind me, in the middle of the picture, there is a tunnel visible. That is the climb up to here. It is so steep, that they just bored into the rock in places. Of course the tunnels weren't lit and riding up a very steep grade in pitch black was not too comforting.
