Todestag - that's what I call Sunday in Germany - Deadday. That is because absolutely nothing is open. And for a hungry cyclist, this can be very bad news. Just after passing through this extremely industrial town without seeing ANYthing open, I passed this gas station. Hey! Wait a minute! That's a full-blown American looking gas station. Sure enough, it was an exact replica of an American gas station right down to the convenience store. Wow! This was luck! In the US, gas stations are small places, relatively speaking, but after visiting so many grocery stores the size of my bedroom, I was amazed at how huge this gas station seemed. Wow! They have all kinds of goodies here. And on Sunday! And the big glass windows make it easy to see the bike. Gas stations - a good thing to remember. Some cops came up to me while I was eating outside the place. I was thinking "uh oh", but it turns out that they were really nice. I was telling them what I liked about the area and one of them interjected, "and don't forget, we have the friendliest police here too!" I couldn't argue.
