Is this great or what!? I love this kind of thing. Using my super map, I really got myself into a mess. I had taken a wretched little road out of Abertamy that I thought was on map, but I'm not all that sure. This road calmly took me into the middle of the forest. It was spectacular back in there. Not another person. Sometimes I could ride, but there were many km of schlepping through the snow as shown here. I was slightly worried that conditions could get worse, but unlike the Alps, I was already near the higher elevations for this region (about 1000m) - so it couldn't get too much worse. Besides, I figured I'd just trudge along and if it started getting dark, I would have enjoyed camping there in those quiet woods. But it turns out I had plenty of time to get back on course.
