This is a State Vehicular Recreation Area - like a state park, but people are allowed to bring motor vehicles here and behave like idiots. I'm sure it's a lot of fun, but we were just happy that it was a good place to camp. This nice little shelter with a picnic table was helpful. That little patch of sand just above the flag is not really a little patch of sand. It is a huge patch of sand very far away. All day and night, cars, motorcycles, jeeps, trucks, rednecks, dunebuggies, etc would drive over to the hill and drive around until they got stuck. April is watching the action with her new binoculars. It turns out, they're a very helpful thing to bring bike touring.
