This sets up a terminal type that is acceptable and makes the Meta key, Alt, work relatively well. Without these things, minicom won’t allow you to exit. Just shut down the telnet session and re-login.

minicom doesn’t seem to change the port very easily. I couldn’t get the serial options to actually change from one modem to the other in one session. The workaround is to have 2 config files that represent each of the modems. These files are called /etc/minirc.whatever whatever defaults to the letter dfl. These should work:

This assumes that you are on vulture where there is a hp48 file. The IOPAR variable on the hp48 should be {9600 0 1 1 3 3}
